David and Goliath

I picked up this really cute, silly shirt in Gulf Shores by David and Goliath and I got to wondering what else this brand has. I looked up the website and OMG they have such CUTE stuff. All of their designs are stupid funny. There's so many that I want! I love the clever little sayings and the bright colors! And they beat regular ole' tshirts any day. Here's some of my faves:

And this is the happiness that I wore today with cutoff jean shorts and pink polka dot flats. =) I was so happy wearing it today I wanna wear it again tomorrow!

Steak and birthday cake!

Howdy! Today was Daddy's surprise lunch at RUTH'S CHRIS! We looove Ruth's Chris but only go for very special occassions because it's so nice and expensive. We all got really dressed up for church (he was wondering why) and mom decided she'd drive us to lunch (which she never does). He figured it out as we were pulling into the Embassy Suites where Ruth's Chris is. When we walked into our private room Mama had reserved there were balloons and a two tier cake waiting on him. He was so surprised! He thought dinner and the home made cake Friday night was it! The cake is sooo good. Red velvet covered in white icing and blue and green fondut polka dots and argyl with starts sticking out of it. All edible. Most of the polka dots have already been picked off and devoured. Yummy. Like pure sugar. Back to the grind tomorrow. But a light at the end of the tunnel! Next Monday we're off Labor Day! Something to look forward to! Here's GTKY!
1. If you accidently knick a car in the parking lot...do you leave a note or get the heck out of there?
Leave a note. I have such a loud concious.
2. Love your body or plastic surgery?
Love it now. Ask again in 20 years.
3. What about your favorite blog(s) continues to drive you back?
They're inspiring, fashionable and honest. And I like the ones that continually post pretty pictures. =)
4. What percent of your blog is BS just to make your life seem more interesting than it really is?
None of it. I'll straight up tell you it's not that cool.
5. If you had to give up one type of meat for the rest of your life what would it be?
Probably chicken. It's bland.
6. How often do you eat out?
Probably once a week. I would more if we could afford it. I love to eat out!
7. Skinny jeans or boot cut jeans?
I like both but I wear skinny jeans more.
8. If you caught your spouse cheating, would you forgive, divorce or plan your revenge?
I'm going to try to keep this short. I think you should do everything possible to save your marriage in any situation. If the cheater sincerely apologized and vowed he would go to counseling and do anything necessary to change his ways, then you should try to forgive. But nothing less than that would work.

Fill in the Blank SATURDAY!

I'm a day late. Oh well. Yesterday we celebrated my dad's 50Th birthday! Just a little one last night. The real celebration will be Sunday night...but it's a surprise! Mom grilled burgers and my Martha Stewart little sister made him a caramel cake. Her bf and a couple of his football buddies came over and we sang Happy Birthday to him. It's so funny to sit around the table with three 16 year old boys and just listen to them talk. They're so funny.
Thursday was the first high school football game of the season! I went to Kaylen's pep rally with Mom and Dad. I looove pep rallies! The game that night was awesome. Just a great game. Kaylen is a cheerleader (a flyer to be specific) and I wore a little button with her face on it proudly. It's so cool to see the other cheerleaders hoist her up and toss her around.
Anyway here's Fill in the Blank [SATURDAY]!
1. The most adventurous thing I've ever done is ride the Sky Coaster in Gulf Shores. Terrifying!!
2. If I were a pair of shoes I would be a pair of gold flats. I live in flats and gold goes with just about everything. I have one pair that I've had since senior year and I won't get rid of them til they fall off my feet.
3. My preferred mode of digital communication is phone. I only text if I have a quick question.
4. I feel happiest when I have nothing better to do than read a book or magazine and just relax.
5. A little dream I have for my life is to be stay at home mom with about three kids. And a white picket fence wouldn't hurt either.
6. The one modern convenience I could not do without is Internet I guess! I love to surf.
7. Music, movies, TV or books. If I could only choose one to enjoy I would pick....Books. I absolutely love to read. Next would be music, then movies and lastly TV.

Back to the grind.

Hello, dears. Today has been a very relaxing day. Me and the husband had the salad bar at Ruby Tuesdays, went to Publix and got a magazine (People Style Watch, my FAVE that I look forward to every month) and two more movies and spent the rest of the day lounging on the bed being lazy. The past two days we've watched The Bounty Hunter (nothing special, a few funny moments but that's about it), The Runaways (LOVED it! It's raunchy but the fashion and Dakota Fanning are AWESOME), Couples Retreat (corny and not the barrel of laughs I was hoping for), and Burn After Reading (fun mix of characters but not for you if you love action). Tomorrow I go back to work after might as well say two full weeks off from being sick, not to mention the week vacation before that. I'm really glad to be getting out of the house (and making money) again but I'm nervous at the same time. Really hoping whatever was making sick stays away. I think I mentioned before that the Dr. believes I've had a bad case of vertigo or inner ear so she gave me some medicine and hopefully it keeps it at bay. Anyway, enough jabber. Here's GTKY! www.mannland5.com
1. If you could host a reality TV show, what would it be?
I honestly don't watch a whole lot of it. Probably something cushy like American Idol or The Bachelor.
2. Do you put your seat belt on before or after you start the car ?
Before. I ALWAYS wear my seat belt.
3. Shave or hair removal cream?
Shave. Simple.
4. What's your favorite feature in a house?
When we start looking for a house a deal breaker for me will be small rooms. I love rooms with lots of floor space. And big closets too!
5. What is your favorite "fall" scent?
Pumpkin spice....yummm.
6. What TV show are you looking forward to seeing most this fall?
Eh. Don't really care.
7. Personal shopper or personal chef?
Give me the chef!!!!
8. What is the first word that comes to mind when you think of "fall"?
Foliage and football! I'm so ready for autumn!

TV Time.

It's Friday! But that really means nothing to me since I've only worked half a day all week. So...yay I guess. Today was another Dr. appt. and she thinks I might have vertigo or inner ear so she gave me some medicine for the dizziness and wants me to see about working in the airconditioned office instead of the warehouse. So we'll see how that goes. But for now, here's Friday Fill In the Blanks!

1. My favorite current show is Hell's Kitchen! Even though the season just ended. But Holli won and we were rooting for her the whole time!

2. The TV character I can relate to most is I hate to admit it but Roxy from Army Wives.

3. My life is like (fill in the TV show and why) Family Matters. We're the typical American family. We have problems but we always get through them together. The only difference is we're white.

4. My all time favorite TV show is I Love Lucy. There isn't an episode I haven't seen at least a dozen times.

5. A TV show that is ridiculously stupid but I continue to watch is Jersey Shore. Like you didn't see that coming.

6. My favorite TV couple is Zach and Kelly. (Sigh)

7. One TV episode I could watch over and over again is an episode of Family Matters comes to mind. Urkel gets drunk at a party and makes up a dance and then falls off a building. It's not as terrible as it sounds.

Good night, all.

Different day, more sneezing.

I got what I wanted! A Life and Style magazine (thanks to Don Don) and an oreo blizzard (thanks to Chris)!! I went to the hospital today for a CT scan (NOT a cat scan; apparently there's a difference). Not as terrible as I thought it would be. The worst part was the IV with the iodine. Makes you feel uncomfortably warm. Tomorrow I'm doing basically what I've been doing the past two weeks, relaxing, taking meds and hoping hoping hoping I start to feel better. This cold is really doing a number on me. Friday is another dr. appointment to see what the next step is if all went well with the scan.

This is where I'm headed. Oh to be that comfortable.

Love and Tylenol,

Alyssa

A break from words...Bollywood style

I feel like my last few posts have been really wordy, so here's a post of beautiful Bollywood pictures. Who else wishes they were Indian?

Sick of being sick.

Welp, here I am again. Sitting on the couch while I should be at work, sick as a dog. I got up and went to work yesterday and ended up leaving after 3 hours. Different day, same crap. I'd debated going home at all knowing my mom would want me to go to the doctor. I hate going to the doctor. Not only that, but last time she had mentioned a spinal tap. This strikes fear into my heart. We ended up going around 4, me, Mom and Chris. The doctor firmly believes whatever I have is viral and that it should work it's way out of my system. I'm tested negative for just about everything else. No mono, my liver and thyroid are fine. On top of all this I've got a head cold. Miserable. She wanted to schedule me for a cat scan today sometime. We're just waiting on a phone call. This has me slightly freaking out too. I'm claustrophobic. I know I won't be able to put my whole body in a tunnel just big enough for me. Maybe they can just put my head in? Right now I would kill for an oreo blizzard, a tabloid and some cold meds.

Questioning

Morning, all. We had a rough day yesterday. We took the Gus and Dixie to the vet to get them checked out and bathed. It was an experience. It rained ALL day long. We got there and our debit card wouldn't work. They said they take checks, which would've been great....if I'd had my checkbook on me. So we drove BACK home another 20 minutes to get the check book. STILL raining. We get back the vet, give them a check and leave the kids to get taken care of. On the way back home we started talking about our lives now vs. our lives in the Marine Corps. Not a cheery subject. We at least had our own place up there and money to cover it. Here we don't. And that fact alone makes us question if we made the right decision in getting out. I've been really upset lately thinking about this. We've been married three years and don't have anything to show for it. Chris has no job, we have no house and no kids. I'm 22 years old. When we were married, the original plan was for us to already have a kid, or at least be pregnant now. Well that can't happen at present time with no job and no house. I know I shouldn't be jealous of other people's lives, but I am. These young couples that are married a month and then BAM they're pregnant. They're having babies when I should be having them. Sorry to be such a Debbie Downer but I actually feel better after typing that out.
Anyway....here's GTKY:
1. What kind of athlete has the hottest body? All the soccer players in the World Cup looked pretty ripped. But I love football players.
2. Are you a planner or a procrastinator? I plan....and then I procrastinate.
3. Diet or regular (soda)? Regular. I've heard that diet drinks are just as bad for you if not worse that regular. I've also heard they cause cancer, but what doesn't? But I just drink regular because they taste better.
4. What's your one must-have for fall? I really want a military inspired jacket. That I think might get up the courage to try some thigh high stockings with a skirt.
5. What's your favorite fast food restaurant? Taco Bell. I'll eat just about everything on that menu.
6. What do you think is the sexiest profession for a guy? Marine! Gotta loves a man in cammies.
7. Did you wear braces? Lord, yes. For almost three full years.
8. Would you rather have a guy that's super sexy or kind? Kind. Always. Sexy doesn't mean much when there's nothing pretty underneath.

Oh Scarlett Jo...

I love your face...and your lips...and your body...and your style.

Your old Hollywood glamor and sexy curves make you my new girl crush. Congrats.

Sick and bored.

So here I am, in the bed watching Twilight and New Moon. Haha. I'm so bored. It's a couple of days late but heres GTKY.

1. Do you think mustaches are sexy? Definately not. I'm not a fan of facial hair in general.

2. What's the last concert you went to? Distubred at Sloss Furnace in Birmingham. Awesome show.

3. What was your favorite 80's sitcom? Oh gosh. I loved Saved by the Bell. I watched it every morning before school. I also like Family Matters and Full House.

4. Were you named after anyone? No. But my dad got the idea from Alyssa Milano even though it's pronounced differently.

5. When you buy new clothes do you wash before wearing? Nope! I'm usually so excited to wear something new that I just wear it off the hanger.

6. If you didn't blog, what would you do with your spare time? READ!!!

7. What is your favorite department store? Belk.

8. If you were to get laser hair removal where would you get it? Eyebrows and bikini zone. I can handles shaving my legs.

Home again, Home again.

Hello all! Well there's good news and bad news. The good news is we had a blast in Gulf Shores and made it back safe and sound. The bad news is I'm sick again. I feel exactly like I felt when they said I had swine flu. Right now I'm lying in bed waiting on a phone call from the doctor. Always fun. Anyway, here's our vacation in pictures!

The Ferris wheel at The Wharf:
At The Track! Our favorite place!

The stuffed animals and stickers that we played so many arcade games for.
This city is Fairhope. Its the CUTEST little town. Looks like a Mayberry.

Haha. Kaylen's mean face.
At the pool the last day.
Beach pictures!

I took this one. =)

There's me in my floppy hat!!

I love vacations but I hate how they always go by too quick. But it was still nice to get back to my hubby. Mom kept telling me "absence makes the heart grow fonder". My response to that was that we've been through two deployments. A week is a friggin cake walk.

Yesterday evening, we had an early dinner with my long lost best friend, Marissa and her beau, Brad. I hadn't seen her in two years and it was soo nice to catch up with her and talk about old times. She brought up when we were in 8Th grade and standing on the sidewalk after school. Chris had a huge crush on me and would STARE at me through the bus window. He was so cute. After that since Chris knew I wasn't feeling well, he took my to blockbuster so we could have a movie night. We watched Dear John (my pick) and The Crazies (his pick). Dear John was really disappointing. I didn't even cry. The script and the execution was terrible. The Crazies wasn't much better. Same old same old. Little town gets infected and the town folk go "crazy" and the government has to control it. Blah blah blah. Buuut this morning I watched Remember Me. Oh my goodness. Great movie. I really didn't have high hopes for it but boy was I wrong. The characters are real. The situations are real. And the ending will have your jaw dropping. Totally didn't see that coming.

Once again I'm armed with bottles of water, Advil and tabloids. Wish my luck and hope everyone has a great and healthy week.

Love and chlorine,

Alyssa

I wish it wasnt Friday!

This is the first Friday I've had in a while that I didn't want to see come!! Tomorrow we leave the beautiful beach. We've had a great time. Yesterday we shopped and ate dinner at Lamberts, home of throwed rolls. Yes, they THROW your rolls at you. They give you so much food there's no way you can eat it all in one sitting. I actually just finished off my meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Yummy. Today we're relaxing by the pool til about 4 then we're getting our family photos and eating supper at LuLu's. Fun fun! Before I head back out to work on my tan, here's Fill In The Blank FOOD Edition! My favorite subject!

1. Today for breakfast I ate a nutty buddy bar. I know I know...
2. My go to/never fail recipe is Shepard's pie. It's a lot to make so I don't do it that often but when I do it's sooo good!
3. Something I eat that other people think is weird is ketchup and shredded cheese sandwich. When I'm VERY hungry and can't find anything else.
4. My worst cooking disaster ever was shortly after we got married I tried making mashed potatoes and used way too much milk. It was more potato soup. But he still ate it. =)
5. If I could eat one flavor of ice cream for the rest of my life it would be classic chocolate.
6. One food I hate and avoid at all costs is spaghetti. I love all other kinds of Italian. I just can't spaghetti.
7. What is your favorite meal breakfast, lunch or dinner? Hm. I love french toast. I could eat that for all three meals.

Greetings from the Gulf!

Hello from BEAUTIFUL Gulf Shores, AL!! We (mom, dad, Kaylen and myself) arrived here late Monday night. The water is clear and beautiful. There are cleanup boats and nets a couple hundred yards off shore, but other than that, you'd never know there was an oil spill. From what I've heard, they've done a great job cleaning it up.
Right this very moment we're waiting out a little thunderstorm before going to the pool. Yesterday we spent most of the day lounging outside catching (too much) sun. I have lovely raccoon eyes from my big sunglasses. But hey, tan lines are better than wrinkles later in life. I'm so excited to finally get a little bit of a tan!! I've been pastey all summer.
The only thing that could make this vacation better is if Chris were here. I know he made the right call choosing work...but still. I miss my hubby.
Our last night here we're going to get decked out in our white shirts and khaki shorts and take the family photos on the beach. My favorite thing to do!!
It's going to be super hard to go back to work after such a relaxing vacation. But I won't think about that now. Hope everyone is having as much fun as I am!
Love and sand,
Alyssa
