"I'm Joan Jett"

I think I found my Halloween costume. Joan Jett! How B.A. would that be?!
PS. If you haven't seen The Runaways, you should.

Wee Bit [of me] Wednesday [on Thrusday]

Howdy! I hope everyone's having a great week. We're almost to the weekend, yall! Things on this side have been ok. Everyone has been really emotional but very supportive of each other after the tragedy Sunday. The viewing is tonight and the funeral tomorrow. I bet the high school will be like a ghost town. Those poor kids. I consider myself very lucky that I've never lost a friend, especially at a young age. If you're praying people, please pray for that family and this little community over the next couple of days.

In other, more random news. I have an announcement. I jumped on my dad's bandwagon and started weight watchers. Yes, I know. It's a huge deal. I HATE dieting. I LOVE to eat. You see the problem. So far so good though! It's only been two days but give me some credit.

Here's A Wee Bit Wednesday (on Thursday). If you want to play along skip on over to Leigh Ashley's blog: and play along!

{one} what is your biggest pet peeve?
People with no table manners! I hate listening to people eat! Ugh!

{two} what is your favorite dessert?
Do we have to talk about food? I love brownies, chocolate cake, apple pie, blizzrds, peanut butter cookies....

{three} what is the first thing you notice about people?
Weather or not they're smiling.

{four} are you usually late, early or right on time?
Usually right on time.

{five} have you ever fired a gun?
Yes! And loved it! A 22 rifle and handgun.

{six} are you right-handed or left-handed?

{seven} which do you prefer: coke or pepsi?
Pepsi. But I prefer Dr. Pepper to both.

{eight} do you dance crazy when no one is looking?
Yes. I did a part to the Thriller dance in the mirror just to see what I look like doing it. I haven't done it since.

{nine} what’s your favorite movie snack?
Buncha Crunch!!

{ten} do you scream on roller coasters?
Like a banshee.

Letters to me Part Trois

Dear Alyssa,
You finally bought the shoes to wear with me.
Now throw a blazer on to take down the slut factor
and you're good.
Your pink polka-dot mini dress
Dear Alyssa,
I love you just as much as you love me!
Ok, maybe not quite as much.
Ok that's a lie. I don't ever really
like you.
-Your new station at work
Dear Alyssa,
This is never going to work out.
Weight Watchers
While we appreciate the daily scooping of the
litter box, the flea medicine and the frequent
wet food, we'd still rather be cuddling under
the covers with
you and dad.
Gus and Dixie
Dear Alyssa,
Dust me off.
It's about time.
-Your Bible

A Heavy Heart

Last night was something to say the least. Our phone was ringing off the hook with people wanting to know what was going in the subdivision next to us (my dad is a captain firefighter so he's expected to know everything). A family of three and their pets were found dead in the home from carbon monoxide poisoning. The daughter was a senior at HHS. Just sad all around. After the firetrucks, police and onlookers left, it was eerily quiet in our little town. Something like this just makes you remember that we're never guaranteed tomorrow or even another breath. And oddly enough, the sermon yesterday morning was about death and God's victory over the grave.

We ask that You wrap Your arms around our town. We pray that their souls have been lifted up and You have already welcomed them into Your kingdom. We pray for those loved ones left behind. Give them divine comfort as only You can. Give them hope in knowing that You have absolute victory over the grave and they will see them again one day. Thank You for Your mercy and forgiveness. May Your name be glorified even in death.

Black and White

Hello again! I DID go on that solo shopping trip I was talking about! I came away with some suede black flats and a red striped Henley top from AE, and a crimson and gray sweatshirt and the most gorgeous dress I've ever put on my body from Forever21. I saw it on the rack and thought I'll try it on just for fun but won't it. NOT! Of course I fell in love with it. It's a dull blue, all lace, scoop neck, nipped at the waist dress. I'll HAVE to take a pic in it tomorrow for church because I couldn't find a pic on the website. I'm so excited to wear it!!!

I just finished going through the latest issue of In Style and read this great article about the late photographer Herb Ritts. His photos are beautiful! So simple and so dang sexy! You might recognize some of these famous faces. My absolute fave photo is at the bottom.

Love in black and white,
Hello, all! I for one am so happy to see the weekend here! Can I just tell you real quick how much I like my job and like my coworkers even more? The past two payday Fridays have had a theme (how fun!). Two weeks ago was PJ day. We (all the girls in the photo department) all showed up in pajamas and slippers. Yesterday was "bring your fave junk food day". Holy cow. There were no bake cookies (my choice), strawberry cupcakes, brownies, chips, and oreos. I was sick to my stomach I ate so much. Next payday is camo day! I'm sure I'll be the only one in government issued camouflage. Haha. I'm debating weather to just wear his blouse and cover or go all out with the pants and boots.

Today I'm seriously considering getting myself some coffee and going shopping by my lonesome before the big game (Alabama vs. Arkansas). Roll Tide!

I know I'm about 10 hours late but here's Fill in the Blank!:

1. In the story of my life the actor who would play me would be maybe Alexis Blidel. I've been a few times I look like her. But then again I've also heard Mischa Barton and Lindsay Lohan (before her crack days).

2. If I could change one thing about the world it would be for everyone to just get along. Can you imagine a world with no war or even conflict? What would we do with ourselves?

3. Yesterday I worked hard, ate too much, and then ate some more at the HHS vs. Shades Valley game.

4. My favorite comfort food is mashed potatoes. Yummy.

5. My new favorite blog find is Simplify.

6. If I could meet any blog friend (who I haven't met yet) in real life, I'd choose to meet Amber from Laughing with Broken Eyes. It seems like we have a lot in common and plus she's super sweet.

7. My favorite breakfast food is french toast. Love the stuff. All this food talk has got me hungry.

Love and football,

Pretty baby

Hello! It seems like everyone I know is pregnant or having babies. There was Tristan Sunday night, last night our friend Joe welcomed his first, Malachi (love the name) and I've got at least 3 girlfriends that are due soon. Not to mention several others that are pregnant. Crazy! So in honor of all these little ones being brought into the world, here's pictures of beautiful beautiful babies. Enjoy the cuteness!

Meet Tristan!

Last night we welcomed Tristan David into the world! He is the first child of some very dear friends of ours, David and Tracie. David is the closest thing me and Kaylen have ever had to a brother. He and Tracie were just meant to be together. She's the sweetest (and prettiest) girl you'd ever hope to meet. She's like Mary Poppins: practically perfect in every way! In their wedding, I was a bridesmaid and Kaylen was a flower girl and about a year and a week later Tracie returned the favor as a bridesmaid in mine! We love them both very much. We got to the hospital around 4 because they said we'd have a baby within an hour. Well nearly 5 hours later he decided to show! Haha. He was bound and determined he was not leaving! But here he is in all his glory! I can't wait to see him today after work and hold him and love on him!

If I Die Young

These are the most beautiful lyrics I think I've ever heard. I nearly bawled the first time I heard it on the radio. It's by a band called "Perry".

If I die young bury me in satin
Lay me down on a bed of roses
Sink me in the river at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love song
oh oh oh oh

Lord make me a rainbow, I’ll shine down on my mother
She'll know I’m safe with you when she stands under my colors, oh and
Life ain't always what you think it ought to be, no
ain't even grey, but she buries her baby

The sharp knife of a short life, well
I’ve had just enough time

If I die young bury me in satin
Lay me down on a bed of roses
Sink me in the river at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love song

The sharp knife of a short life, well
I’ve had just enough time

And I’ll be wearing white when I come into your kingdom
I’m as green as the ring on my little cold finger
I’ve never known the lovin' of a man
But it sure felt nice when he was holding my hand
There’s a boy here in town says he’ll love me forever
Who would have thought forever could be severed by

The sharp knife of a short life, well
I’ve had just enough time

So put on your best boys and I’ll wear my pearls
What I never did is done

A penny for my thoughts, oh no I’ll sell them for a dollar
They're worth so much more after I’m a gone
And maybe then you’ll hear the words I been singin
Funny when you're dead how people start listenin

If I die young bury me in satin
Lay me down on a bed of roses
Sink me in the river at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love song
oh oh

The ballad of a dove
Go with peace and love
Gather up your tears, keep ‘em in your pocket
Save them for a time when your really gonna need 'em oh

The sharp knife of a short life, well
I’ve had just enough time

So put on your best boys and I’ll wear my pearls

Random Saturday Thoughts

Hello, all! I hope everyone is have a great weekend! I am so far! Last night the mighty fightin' Golden Gophers gave a whooping to the opposing team! They showed how much class they have (or lack thereof) by running to our end zone and dancing in it. Well, we showed them. Our own boys of fall played a great game and should be proud of themselves. And the cheerleaders were fabulous too. =) To top it off my Crimson Tide blew out Duke. Can I get a Roll Tide? Anywho, here's a few of my random thoughts bouncing around in my head:
I got THIS new bag last week and I love it. I hardly ever buy purses but I'm so glad I got this one! And it just so happens to be from my wonderful place of work. Check it out at
This is a trend I just can't get behind: CLOGS. Don't understand it. They remind me of Birkenstocks. Surely you had a pair. In 6Th grade I had TWO. I wore them with and without socks and good Lord did they make my feet stink:

How adorable is Katy Perry's gummy bear ring?!:

I saw something wonderful driving through Hueytown yesterday...the leaves are changing!! The green trees have little speckles of gold in them! You can't imagine how happy this makes me. Now if only the temperature would follow suit.

Today I watched the Notebook. I'll admit it's not one of my favorites but I gave it another try. The fashion alone is worth watching it for:

I'm desperate for THESE shoes from AE. I found them online and today when I went in to exchange some jeans (needed a bigger sad) I found them for 10 dollars cheaper! First thing next Saturday after my paycheck I'm getting these. They will go with EVERYTHING!!:

Last night I had the most fabulous dream I've ever had. I dreamed I worked at a fashion magazine ala Anne Hathaway in The Devil Wears Prada. It was complete with a huge fully stocked closet of nothing but bags, jewelry and shoes. I distinctly remember walking around in a navy blue mini dress and black platform pumps.

Love and accessories,

Friday Friday Friday

Hello, all! I'm so happy because it's Friday! I started my morning off with a yoohoo which put me in a stupid good mood. Tonight is more high school football! Go Gophers! (Yes, we're the might fighting golden gophers." Anyway, now for some random blanks!

1. When I get a day to myself I like to stay in my PJs and read. And maybe clean our room.

2. High school was def. not the best years of my life. The only thing good about it was Chris. I've always hated school.

3. A little dream I have is to have a farm one day! Full of cats and dogs! I had a dream last night that we had FOURTEEN cats and kittens.

4. A big dream I have is to be a stay at home mom one day. I don't know if that's bigger than a farm but whatever.

5. If I could drive any car my pick would be a silver 350Z. I love those cars.

6. I time I felt really and truly beautiful was my wedding day.

7. Tomorrow I will probably hang around the house and watch football and movies with the husband.

Have a great weekend!

French toast

Bonjour! I'm having a good day today! The air is cool in the morning, I'm learning new stuff at work and I'm wearing another makes-me-happy shirt!

Get it?! Haha.

Ala Forever 21. I just need some black cigarette pants and some funky jewelry and I'm cool.

I did something tonight I've never done before. I looked in the mirror...and checked for wrinkles. After walking away finding nothing I thought "I'm 22 and this is probably stupid". I have no idea why I'm so preoccupied with age. I hate to admit it but I dread getting older. It's not the fear of settling down, or having more responsibilities. I just don't want to get old. I don't want to be one year closer to death. I know that's a morbid thought, but it's reality. I don't want my hair to turn gray. I always want to be young and pretty. But it's coming. Slowly but surely. I hate that I think about this every single day. I try to think that maybe it won't be so bad. Maybe I won't mind it so much once I'm there. I'll be (hopefully) smarter, (hopefully) a mother or grandmother, (hopefully) will have had some great experiences, (hopefully) happy. I try to tell myself that I'll make the best of it and be the best 30 year old me or 50 year old me or (gulp) 70 year old me I can be. Maybe I'll be lucky and age as gracefully as these lovey ladies. Who couldn't hope to grow old and be that beautiful?:

Lots of Love,

"They were black, white and brown...they were Americans." -President Obama.

For one day, we were all the same.

Whatever your political beliefs, the bottom line is nearly 3,000 innocent Americans were killed. Americans of all different races, religions and classes.

I know it hurts to think about, but DO NOT FORGET THEM.
