Christmas Cheer

Hello! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. We did at the Stanley/Whitt house. Christmas Eve is my absolute favorite night of the entire year. We had out big get-together at my grandparent's house. Always fun. And full of kids! We had a nice Christmas morning, the seven of us (fam plus Nana and Don Don). Daddy played Santa like he always does. I think everybody was happy with their gifts.
Pics!:

Husband and myself Christmas morning. PJs is the only way to go.
Kaylen SHOCKED that I found a necklace she liked from Pinterest. It came from Canada and took about 6 weeks to ship. Holy crap. I'm just glad it showed up! Even if it was two days before Christmas!
Kaylen made this for me! I nearly cried!
Chris got me a latte maker (in the picture) and that box was pretty big. Then there was this box that I'm digging into. It was big and HEAVY. He stuffed it and stuffed it with wrapping paper and weighed it down with cans to fool me. At the bottom was a Nook! Best husband ever!
I was pretty happy.
Later that afternoon we went visiting some family and friends. We got to see Tristan! Here he is sporting his new helmet!
Lastly we visited our precious grandmother.
I always get a little blue right after Christmas. I just love the holiday so much! I like to keep my gifts all together so I can look at them. Because I figure when you start to use them, that means Christmas is really over! Boo! I DID wear my new cat PJs last night my parents got me. Sigh. LOVE pajamas.
Tonight the husband and I are going to the zoo. They always have it lit up for the holidays til New Years. We both love the zoo and I love lights. Sounds great! AND we just figured out what we're doing for New Years Eve. Remember that awesome cover band, Naked Eskimos we saw a few months ago? They're playing at a sports bar that night and I'm actually really excited about it. I'm such a homebody and not a partier at all but this sounds like fun!
I'm NOT doing New Years resolutions this year. No point. Never keep em. Last year's was to wear more high heels. That didn't happen. Oh well.
No matter what you're doing New Years Eve, have fun and be safe ringing in 2012! (Weird.)

Tired like whoa.

My sister informed me that I'm a "bad blogger". I suppose.
This week has been one of the weirdest on record. Anything that could happen, DID happen and my mind has been running in a million different directions. Everyone has been working lots of overtime for Christmas. I'm completely exhausted. Last night the husband took me to Outback (one of our faves) to wind down. They nearly had to roll me out of there. Steak, lobster, baked potato, salad, that weird bread and wine. I'm getting hungry again thinking about it.

I LOVE this new haircut on Katy Perry! Makes me want to grab the nearest pair of scissors.

Let's get CRAFTY!!

Yall, look what I made!!
A tshirt scarf! I've seen them all over Pinterest and thought "why not?" I've told you before I'm not a crafty girl, but this was super easy. I got an old tshirt (thanks, Dad) and cut the torso into strips. If you stretch them just the littlest bit, they curve into themselves. I took one strip and tied it around the rest. And that's it! I might get a brooch or something and slap it on there somewhere.
Please excuse the horrid picture on my new old lady phone. Yea. Went to the mall yesterday and downgraded to a dumb phone. No internet. I never used it on my blackberry so I figured I'd save that $30 a month. FTW.
I hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving!
My beautiful little sister and me Thanksgiving day.

Happy Birthday, Baby!

Happy 25th Birthday to the husband!
Here's a few pics of his adorable little self.
(Notice the sweet mushroom cut in picture #4)
Love you, baby!

Daddy Issues?

Found that on Pinterest (of course) and HAD to share it.
I had an epiphany the other day. The husband and I have been talking a lot about babies and what not lately. I've been thinking which would be easier to raise: boys or girls? Would it be harder to teach a little boy how to respect women or to teach a little girl to respect herself? That got me to thinking how absolutely vital the father's role in a child's life is. If we have a boy, he will learn how to treat women by how Chris treats me. If we have a girl, she will learn how she is supposed to be treated by men by how Chris treats me.
I mean, think about it. How many people do you know that have "daddy issues"? Guys grow up being pigs and treating women like trash because that's what their daddy did. Girls grow up promiscuous and desperate for attention because their daddy was never affectionate or never said he loved them.
I'm so blessed to have a wonderful father. I've talked about him before I'm sure, but he's just that great. I told Chris loooong before we got married that he had big shoes to fill and that if he turned out to be half the husband/father my dad is I'd be a happy wife. Let me clarify: I have a wonderful husband and when we have a child, he/she will learn the proper way for a husband to treat his wife.
Thanks for letting my ramble. =)

Halloween weekend!

I present to you my Halloween weekend in pictures...backwards...because that's how I uploaded them.
I took the kitties outside for the first time ever! Gus's eyes were as big as saucers. You'd have thought he was Dorothy walking out of Kansas and into Oz. Oh! And take a gander at my pumpkin!
I love his face here.

Halloween at work! These are my coworkers bowing down to me. Guess who I am???
Kate Middleton! Made the "fascinator" myself!
Me and the husband after making pumpkins:
Tristan! We always carve pumpkins with David and Tracie and this year was special because Tristan is big enough to have fun with! Last year he was just a month old. He sooo knows he's cute:
The whole group!

Love this little kid!

Oh and totally random but, the Kim Kardashian divorce "shocker"?
Called it.

Nothin' But a Good Time

Guess who the husband and I saw Saturday night. Go ahead and give up.
Brett Michaels.
I'm not much of a concert person (and this made me remember why) but Poison is husband's favorite 80's band, so why not? The opening band was a cover band called The Naked Eskimos. They weren't naked and only one of them might even possibly be an eskimo. But they were pretty awesome. Any band that can pull of Blink 182, The Darkness AND Rage Against the Machine equally well is fine with me.
I'm honestly not a huge fan of Poison. I'm more of a G&R, AC/DC girl. But Brett put on a good show. He did Sweet Home Alabama and everybody lost their minds. He even did the "Roll Tide Roll" in it! My favorite moment by far. He might have converted me into a mini-fan.
And now a couple of pointers for standing room only concerts:
-
Like Chris said "move your feet, lose your seat". Don't expect to go pee, go get another beer and be able to get right back up where you were. Pick a spot and stay there.
-
Don't try and start conversations during the frickin show. At that moment, I don't care how crappy your team played that day.
-
Ladies, leave your frickin purses in the car. Put your ID, money and keys in your pockets or your boy's pants pockets. There's hardly room for you much less your suitcase. You'll just be swinging it everywhere and hitting everyone with it. Thanks, prick.
-
With such little space, there's no room for your hoochie dancing. I swear some fat broad might as well have been grinding on me to UnSkinny Bop.

Pumpkin Head

Hello all! The weather felt amazing today! It was cold! I wore actual long sleeves! Fabulous. It made the football game tonight that much more fun. The concession stand served hot chocolate. I HAVE to buy some apple cider now. With caramel. Yum.
Halloween isn't two weeks away and every year we carve pumpkins with David and Tracie (and now Tristan). I look forward to it so much. But THIS year I've decided not to carve...but bedazzle. I found some cute ideas on my new obsession (pinterest) and I think I can do them, even though I'm not terribly crafty.

This one's a definite possibility:

I love love love this one. But I'm not sure I'm ready for it:

This is my absolute favorite. I think I wouldn't paint it though. I mean, it IS a pumpkin. And the stones and spider would be black. I figure the stones will be follow the natural curves of the pumpkin to make the web so it's basically idiot proof. Perfect!

Hello, Weekend!

Right now, I'm sitting home alone and watching a football game. Being home alone rarely happens and I'm taking full advantage of that. The husband is AT said football game and he texted me super excited because he's sitting in the end zone and caught the football that his team kicked a field goal with. Only him.

Last night we went to the most unique, modern wedding I've ever been to. My girlfriend from high school married her wedding videographer fiance. It was insanely gorgeous. The attendants walked down the aisle to Coldplay's "Clocks". Fabulous.

Today me and the fam went to Trade Days at Tannehill Park. I blogged about the same outing last year. I have to say I was a little disappointed. It seemed like there wasn't as many vendors and just not as much stuff. I walked away with a Danielle Steel book and a bottle of water. But whatevs. I got to hold a 7 week old Labrador puppy so it's all good.

Speaking of puppies I had dinner with my friend Megan, and when I took her home, I got to see her great dane "puppy" Amadeus. Less of a dog, more of a pony. He sits higher than the kitchen counter. Holy crap. (Shout out to Bud!)

Tomorrow it's lunch, shopping for some work clothes for husband and catching up on TV shows.

PS.
THIS is one of the cooler things I've ever seen. My fave is James Dean/RPatz. Can you tell who the other celebs are?

Sunday Funday!

Hi!
Man, do I love Sundays. I might have told you about my deal with the husband? Saturdays I leave him alone to watch football and Sundays he's my slave (there's a more fitting word, I'm just not using it). This morning we took Gus Gus back to the vet just to get checked over. He got us laughing because in the exam room he was DESPERATE to find a place to hide and he's gotten so "fluffy" he couldn't effectively jump two feet into the cabinet. He just kind of hung there on the cabinet door. Bless him.
After our trip to the vet we went to lunch at Sumos. I'm really looking forward to lunch tomorrow because I have a whole salmon and fried rice left over. Yay! After THAT we saw the new movie 50/50. Awesome movie. Go see it! I'm so glad I only cried once. It's the perfect "dramedy". And Seth Rogen is hilarious. And I might have a little crush on Joseph Gordon-Levitt now.
When we got home I introduced Chris to the classic horror "House on Haunted Hill". Love this movie. Its super cheesy but still manages to creep me the heck out:
Vincent Price on the set:
And Carol Ohmart is beautiful to look at through the movie:

"Will you take my picture?"

That's what I asked Kaylen after I got back from a wedding today. I felt silly but whatever, I thought I looked cute. Remember that awesome dress I was saying I got for free? This is it! And I'm SO proud of myself that I didn't wear flats! And please take note of the socks. I've had those suckers for a year and they just now saw the light of day:

Dress: JCPenney
Boots: Victoria's Secret
Awesome Socks and necklace: Forever 21

I was kind of having a bad day. Just in one of those grouchy mad but I don't know why moods. Taking silly pictures with Kaylen turned my day around! The gnats were terrible! She'd count 3-2-1-snap when she clicked and in those three seconds I was swatting gnats from my face. She even took one to the eye. Thanks for taking one for the team, Kaylen!

A state of Euphoria

I have had a FANTASTIC weekend. Like I said earlier, this past week was homecoming week in good ole' Hueytown. Always exciting. Thursday night was the bonfire. I'm such a nerd but I always enjoy this. I love the whole community coming together to cheer on our boys (who are number 1 in the state by the way, a first for H-town).

Kaylen and I.

Kaylen doing her thing.

Friday morning a local TV station as at the school to film our pep rally. Best pep rally ever! Above is a picture of me and my favorite player to watch, Tim. I've never met this kid before but mom saw him and was all "hey, can I get your picture with my daughter?!" Haha. I said "I feel like a dork asking for a picture but you're my favorite!" He was so sweet!

This is Kaylen's boyfriend, Daniel, doing his job and doing it well. He's an offensive lineman and a dang good one. He even scored his first touchdown that night! Needless to say, we won Friday night with a score that's embarrassing for Parker.

Yesterday morning I got up and went on a shopping trip all by myself. That is the BEST shopping. I got a super cute fall dress I saw in InStyle at JCPenney for FREE. I had a gift card for $42 and the dress was $50. Ok, so I'll spend 8 on it. I get to the register and it's on sale for $20. FTW. I was overly excited about that. I had stop myself from skipping on the way out.

Here's some of my goodies:

Bomber from Forever21.

Necklace also from Forever21. $2.80. Can't beat that.

Dress from you know where. I have (count em') THREE weddings next month and I think this would be appropriate for all.

And lastly a chiffon skirt from, you guessed it, Forever21.

I also found a pair of jeans that actually fit perfectly from AE. They HAD to go home with me, because how often do you find jeans that fit perfectly? I honestly left in a state of shopping Euphoria yesterday. I'd say it's been a VERY successful weekend! I'm already counting down to the next one!

First time for everything!

Yall, I did something last night with Kaylen that I've never done before: I went rolling! (Or as some of my friends up north call it "TP'ing".) I was never allowed to in high school and this week is homecoming week. It's Kaylen's senior year (she gets away with everything) so I figured it was now or never! I wore black yoga pants, a "senior 2012" tshirt, black vans I've had since I was 16, and a dark beanie....to try and hide my 23 year old self. It totally worked! We went with about 20 other kids. Aside from the few that knew me anyway, they couldn't figure out who I was. And I DEFINITELY don't think they guessed I was 23. I did everything I could to look younger JUST in case we got pulled over. I kept my hair down so my tattoo wasn't visible and even took off my wedding ring. And of course, carried no ID.
It was such a rush!! I can totally see how a life of juvenile delinquency could be appealing. Who knew that throwing toilet paper in trees could be so much fun! When we were getting a house and I was tossing toilet paper rolls into the tallest trees and watching them fall, for just a minute I felt 17 again. Priceless!
Kaylen, thanks for letting your very square sister tag along.

Fall TV

A few nights ago me and the husband had a glorious TV night. We watched an old favorite and a few new ones.

We started with Tosh.0. The old favorite. We love Tosh! He did his campus takeover at ASU and it was hilarious!

We tried The New Girl! I love Zooey. We might make this show a weekly thing. Bless her heart, she reminds me of me.

Yes, I know I'm late to the game but we just watched our first episode of Modern Family. Awesomely funny. I'd watch it just for Sophia Vergara alone. And I love the fat gay guy! (I don't know any of their names.)

This might be my new favorite. The Big Bang Theory. We started from the pilot. I was laughing so hard at Sheldon I couldn't breathe. Everything he says is a riot!

♥♥♥
Today has been an awesomely lazy day of football. It didn't start off great. I took Kaylen into town and we stopped at McDonalds on the way home. I get home only realize they jipped me my burger! I was peaved. My mom said SHE was going into town and she would take me receipt and get my double cheeseburger minus onions. She surprised me and came back with the Gameday Special from Speedy's! TEN tacos, nacho chips and cheese! Woo hoo! AND tonight we're having Sante Fe soup. AND my Tide beat the Razorbacks. This day has ROCKED!
Tomorrow morning we're taking the kids to the vet. They were supposed to go LAST week. But they were very bad and refused to get in the crate together. So we went to PetSmart sans cats and bought ANOTHER crate. They're going tomorrow whether they like it or not. Little snots.
