Weekend Adventure

This weekend the husband and myself drove to Panama City, Florida for a dear friend's wedding.  It's about five hours one way.  Saturday we left home at 10 am.  We got there at 3:30 (the wedding being at 6) and rode go-carts, did the batting cages and played Area 51 at the arcade.  Does anyone else like this game?  It's always been my fave.  Very shoot-em-up-kill-em-up.
We got ready for the wedding and it started raining on the way there.  There was a tropical storm, Debby, off the gulf causing trouble.  We got on the beach at 6:04...and MISSED the ceremony.  Our luck.  They had to do it very fast in between rain bands.  The reception site was beautiful.  An old victorian beach house.  Ladies were bringing food and decor back out from when they ran it in when the rain started.  The newlyweds had their first dance, and everyone got through the food line once and it came up another storm.  EVERYONE grabbed something and ran inside.  Good thing the house was big!  I'm sure it wasn't how anyone pictured the evening going, but it was fun and definitely memorable.

The happy couple!:

Another happy couple:

We figured we'd have ALL DAY Sunday to goof and do whatever before we went back home.  WRONG.  When we woke up it was raining.  We ended up laying in bed watching Dumb and Dumber until we had to check out.  Hurricane or no hurricane, we were determined to eat Cheeseburgers in Paradise at Margaritaville.

This was our view as we were driving out.  The waves were monsters!:

Yesterday, June 25th was our 10th dating anniversary.  We both took off work and used it as our goof off day.  We went to the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame, piddled around at the mall, watched "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World" and then ate at Sumos.  The movie was good but so sad.  I should have known a movie about Armageddon would be depressing.  But I just love Keira Knightly.  So does Chris.  Ha.

So the weekend didn't go exactly as planned but still good times had by all!  It's nice every once in a while to drive somewhere, even if it's just for a day.  Especially when it's with someone you don't mind being in a car with for a long time!
