Switching Seasons

Right this very moment the weather is beautifully autumn.  Blue skies, a little breeze and comfortably cool.  This afternoon (and long into the night) my family and I will be taking part in a tradition that is most definitely fall: football!  Like I mentioned before, I'm ridiculously excited about this game.  Kickoff is at 8:15, which is usually only about an hour before my bedtime.  But my sister and I, thanks to our grandfather, have tickets to The Zone.  I've never been but I'm told there's unlimited food and drink, air conditioning, private bathrooms and your own special section of stadium seats.  I was sold at "unlimited food and drink".

After all of this glorious fall-ness, next weekend we are all taking a somewhat last minute weekend trip to the beach!  Gulf Shores to be exact.  My favorite.  I mentioned in a previous post that this body didn't touch water this past summer much less a swim suit.  So I need to pick up a few things before our trip.

-A one piece swim suit.  Something like this.  I'm really hoping stores still have some awesome suits left on the sale racks.

-In case I can't find an awesome one-piece, I'll need an equally awesome cover-up.

-Some good sun block.  I didn't tan a bit all summer and I'm not aiming to get a sunburn in October.

I guess in reality I should pick up a few things for fall too.  But we'll talk about that later.
Everyone, have a wonderful weekend!

Hallelujah It's Friday

I am once again so thankful it's Friday.  Tomorrow I'm going to the Alabama game with my parents and sister.  The sister and I will be in The Zone.  Air conditioned, all you can eat and drink.  I'm stupid excited.  I'll take lots of pictures!

Speaking of pictures I took some updated photos of the house yesterday.  Here's our new chandelier for the foyer I was telling you about.  It's my favorite part of the house so far.  Go to my facebook to see the rest.

And as always, link up with Lauren to play this week's Fill in the Blanks!

 1.  My first memory is     probably going through a haunted house with my cousin Debbie and her husband Mike (who officiated at our wedding).  I remember him carrying me and getting my ark stuck in a spider web   .

2.  My first love was   Chris.  Got together the summer before high school and that was it!    .

3.  My very first favorite color was    pink and purple .

4. The first time I really felt like a "grown-up" was when    was the month before we got married and we spent his deployment money on furniture for our new apartment  .

5. The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is  hit the restroom and go straight to the shower.  Gotta wake up .

6. The first CD (cassette tape, record, etc...) I ever bought was   Britney Spears' Baby One More Time in the 5th grade.  After that it was Lou Bega.  Mambo #5 was my jam  .

7.  My first car was  a blue Mitsu Lancer.  My parents got it for me right before I turned 17.  I only got rid of it a year and a half ago...and I cried  .

Ten on Tuesday...Crotchrockets, Kittens and Rocky Horror

I hope everyone is having a good week!
1. Sunday the husband and I were driving on the interstate and we got passed by, believe it or not, a motorcycle club.  Five or six crotchrockets followed by an eclipse with their "cut" on the back windshield, followed by a black Charger.  We were trying to decide what they were carrying illegally.  Handguns?  An ounce of weed?  There name was "Steel City Riders".  Hardly SOA material.

2. Yesterday my boss pulled me out of my office to help him get one of his family's kittens out of the hood of his Hummer.  He walked in and said "you're good with cats right?"  I AM the cat lady!  Love it.
3. I'm closer to choosing a new blog name!

4. Took some pictures of the field last week.  The Golden Rod is gorgeous this time of year.

5. Did you SEE Dancing with the Stars last night?  I'm still mad about them putting Tristan with Pam Anderson.  Why was she so fidgety??  I hate it for Irishman but it looks like she'll be the first to go.  I think I might be rooting for Derek and Shawn!

 6. Love this picture from the set of RHPC.  Tim Curry is wild.

 7. My wonderful husband and my amazing dad both took off work yesterday to do some stuff for the house.  They met with guys and got estimates for the new doors and the hardwood AND painted another room, AND put new light fixtures together AND found an awesome color for the awful guest bathroom.  Just awesome.

8. I've become somewhat obsessed with  One day last week the top searched name for baby girls was "Andromeda".  I kid you not.

9. Bugs the stew out of me.

10. Does it feel like time is moving at the speed of light?  I was sitting here thinking about how excited I am about my fall TV line up and then thought that it hasn't really been that long since I blogged about LAST fall's TV lineup.  Maybe that just happens when you get older.

I wish I had somewhere to wear a ball gown...

The 64th Emmys were tonight and I was somewhat disappointed in the fashion!  It's not that it was particularly's just that I wasn't blown away.  BUT there were a few standouts in my eyes.
Zooey Deschanel.  What can I say?  I'm a sucker for baby blue and ball gowns.

Tiny Fey.  I'm usually not a fan of hers on the red carpet but this dress might have swayed me.

And call me nuts, but I was really taken with this canary number on Jullianne Moore!  Maybe it's the way the red hair plays off of it.  And I think there's something so flattering about the long sleeves.

Emily VanCamp.  So romantic!  And I love the cute little bow bracelet!

Sarah Hyland.  This is absolutely something I would wear if the opportunity ever presented itself.
Kat Dennings.   A headline on had this pegged as "the dress everyone will be talking about tomorrow" because of her ample cleavage.  Big deal!  Have you seen Christina Hendricks???  She's ALWAYS got those suckers out!

I'll be honest.  I had no idea who this chick was.  But my goodness I love this dress.  It's Jane Levy, by the way.
My absolute favorite moment of the night was when Seth MacFarlane presented and went to the wrong microphone!  When he realized his blunder and corrected himself he made a joke about missing rehearsal in Stewie's voice.  Everything he says in that little psychopath's voice is a stitch!
Here's to hoping for more inspiring fashion choices at the next awards show!

I Should Be Free!

It's Friday again!  I'm wearing my super summery orange/yellow maxi dress because I know I won't be able to wear it much longer.  And that's OK with me!  Bring on the cooler temps!
It's GORGEOUS outside today and I'm at work!  There's not a cloud to be seen.  And the window in the office is open just beckoning me to come outside and BE FREE!  I should be outside, climbing trees, running in the grass singing songs from The Sound of Music!  Perhaps later...
My lovely office mate has already Halloween-ed up our work space with glittering pumpkins and all sorts of cuteness.  I'm going to have to step it up this weekend and buy a big ole' wreath or something to put on our door.

And as I do every's Fill in the Blanks!

 1.  Something I am very proud of is     how hard we tried to save money before we bought the house.  I'm so glad we did!

2.  My favorite thing about myself is   I'm completely loyal.  If you're my nearest or dearest, I got your back!

3.  My favorite color for fall is    oohhh I'm loving mustard yellow.  But I  love a nice fall orange too. .

4. Something I've been learning lately is     that it's OK to tell people "no"...and not apologize for it .

5. A book I am reading now/have read recently is   Jurassic Park.  I haven't gotten but a few pages in.  After I read an awesome book (The Exorcist) I always have a hard time getting into a new one .

6. My favorite Pandora Station is   the Halloween Party Mix!  Can't get enough of it!  But my Runaways station is a close second .

7.  This weekend I will   watching some football and maybe hitting up trade days?  .

Link up with Lauren to play along!
And have a WONDERFUL weekend!

Ten on...Whatever

1. The husband and I finished off season 4 of Sons of Anarchy and we were LOSING OUR MINDS at the end.  And I'm forever grateful that they didn't kill off Juice.  He's my favorite.  =)

2. I'm currently eating the largest salad I've ever seen at my desk.  And a genuine "thank you" to whoever loaded me up with cheese.  Leafy, cheesy goodness.  And thanks to Daddy for bringing it to me!

3. This mess in the middle east has me actually scared for the first time since Chris deployed.  It's time to pray for our country, people!

4. I've been tossing around the idea of getting a hair cut.  A real one.  Not just a trim.  This is what I'm picturing.  And yes I realize that getting her hair cut won't actually make me look like her.

5. I might have mentioned this, but I'm also in the process of coming up with a new name for my blog.  But when I do, I'll let you know!

6.  I'm incredibly glad Gangnam Style is catching on.  =)

7. Lindsay Lohan got arrested again.  Shocker.

8. It really pisses me off when women who shouldn't be reproducing in the first place get pregnant and then smoke and drink through the whole thing.  And then on the other hand there are women who would give their left foot to be able to have a baby and actually APPRECIATE their blessing.

9. Today is....
Have fun!

10. I put on my brand new jeans this morning that I was so excited about.  Shrunk.  I was so upset I could've punched someone.  Anyone know of a good jean brand that doesn't shrink after one wash?

Everyone link up with lovely Lin and play along!

A Pirate's Life For Me! (Photo Heavy)

What comes before Part B?  Partay!
Today our sweet Tristan had his 2nd birthday party.  Pirates EVERYWHERE!  Such a cute theme.  Here are just a few pictures from the day.

The props for the photo booth I was telling you about!

Love this picture!

The shirt we got him.  I saw it and KNEW it was going home with me.  I also got him some sweet kicks to match.

Our brother for all intents and purposes.

Photo time!  This was so much fun!  Don Don loved his hat.

I freakin love a good party.  And Tracie and David know how to put them together!

The husband is away with a friend watching the Florida game so we (me, my parents and sister) decided to go eat at Ihop (not Chris's favorite).  Yay for coffee at 7 o'clock at night!  But you can't beat their pancakes!  So now it's time to get into PJ's, get comfy and into my cozy bed with the September issue of InStyle.

I hope everyone is having as good a weekend as I am!

Fill in the Blank Friday

Hello, friends. I'm super excited today because our little Tristan is having his SECOND birthday party tomorrow! And this little boy has the BEST parties. Remember his 1st???  This year the theme is pirates and I'm told there will be a photo booth.  How fun!  Arrg!
Sorry.  Had to!

Anyway.  Link up with lovely Lauren to play Fill in the Blank!

1.  Right now the weather where I live is     pretty good!  It's cooled off some and there's always a nice breeze.  Fall is nearly here!  Finally...

2.  The best piece of advice I've been given is    don't wish time away.  On Tuesday don't wish it to be Saturday.  You only get one life   .

3.  My most favorite person in all the world is    my husband.  He makes me laugh like no one else can and embraces my weirdness .

4. If I were to have a "mission statement" for my life, it would be     YOLO!  For real.  That's my new favorite phrase!

5. My most favorite item in my closet is   my new lace, polka dot Lauren Conrad dress.

6. The best cure for a bad day is   boston creme pie donuts.  I know, I know...

7.  Today is   Friday and that automatically makes me happy!   .

Have a great weekend!

Kittens Galore

I'm kind of sad today.  Two of the kittens are going to new homes.  Lavender, my favorite, being one of them.  I would have so loved to make her ours but the two we have now would probably never speak to us again.

So I snapped some pictures of them while I had the chance!
This is Lavender.  Her favorite spot was my lap.

Simon.  The only boy of the group and the only one the in-laws are keeping.

Tallulah.  The wild one.  And as you can see, the one with the most personality.

And Sage.  The most reserved of the four.

I was so sad last night when we went to his parent's house and Lavender wasn't there.  But I am glad they're keeping Simon so we can watch him grow.  It's been fun so far to see how quickly they change!
