11 Years is a Long Time

I mentioned in my Ten on Tuesday that June 25th was our 11 year "together" anniversary. Every time we talked about it Chris would say "11 years is a really long time".  (I tried not to take offense to this.  I mean, who wouldn't want to spend 96423.9 hours with moi?  Don't answer that.)
At first I thought it wasn't that long.  But when you think about it...

When Chris and I got together in 2002:

-Kelly Clarkson became our very first American Idol.

-Justin Bieber was 8 years old.  Still a baby.  Baby, baby, baby, oh.  Sorry.

-The world's first cell phone equipped with a camera was introduced in the Nokia 7650.

-Friends still had two years left on TV before the series ended.

-Britney Spears had never been married (and still had all her marbles as far as we could tell).

-Randy Couture fought Josh Barnett for the Heavyweight Championship in UFC 36.

-The US had not yet invaded Iraq.

- We (well, I) raided our dad's closets for neck ties and bought flat irons because of this new rad girl, Avril.

All of that feels like a million years ago!
I think Chris wins this one.

Ten on Tuesday - Embrace The Randomness

 1. Exactly ONE week until vacation.

2. Call me childish but it makes me feel so much better to make faces at people I don't like when they walk away.  It's the little things.

3. Dear friends, I found a swimsuit!
It was actually a fairly painless process.  Except for the part where I was pulling one on and the tag inside the suit cut me up my side.  Blood and all.  That part was NOT painless.  Because you know I can't go shopping without something stupid happening.

4. I just recently actually started using Twitter.  I decided to follow Amanda Bynes.  Quite amusing.

5. I know a few people that will appreciate this:

6. Today marks 11 years with Chris!  THIS is what he put on my facebook wall:
Clearly we are soul mates.

7. Lauren and I got kind of excited last week with all the blog drama...because we actually knew what everyone was talking about for once.

8. I don't know where this is from and I really don't care:

9. Did anyone see World War Z this past weekend?  Thoughts?

10. I'm ready for some better days.

Link up and embrace the randomness!  Linny will be back next week!

Going Fisticuffs - People I Want to Punch in the Face

This has been a really craptastic week.  [My spell check refuses to believe that's a real word.]  I'm not usually a violent person, [Ok.  That's a lie.  Die Hard is one of my favorite movies.] but I just feel like taking my fists to someone's face.
Any takers?...didn't think so.
Since no one will be kind enough to let me unleash my fury on their face and it has been such a bad week please humor me and take this little trip with me to Alyssa Land.
People I want to punch in the face - justin bieber
1. Justin Bieber:
I mean, obviously.  Is he wearing make-up in this picture?  Stop taking yourself so seriously.  You deserve no respect.  Zero.  He's too pretty.  I can fix that.

People I want to Punch in the Face - Taylor Swift
2. Taylor Swift:
Just go ahead and call me a hater.  Maybe after I rearrange her face she'll write a song about it.

 3. Marie Antoinette:
What an elitist little snob she was.  At least she got what was coming to her.

lil' wayne
 4. Lil' Wayne:
To quote Pitch Perfect: "You're probably the grossest human being I've ever met."  [I haven't actually met him, but remember this is Alyssa Land.]  And the whole "look how controversial I am I'm going to step all over the American flag" thing didn't win you any points with me.  And also you look like a weasel.

 5. The people at Oreo:
For, you know, getting rid of cakesters.

Madonna looking old
 6. Madonna:
You already look like you've taken a few hits to the face.  You're old as Methuselah.  Give it up, baby.
Alright enough of that.
It's Friday so I should at least be a little positive.
-I finally put the first thing on the wall Wednesday night.  And when I say "I" I mean "Dad".  A put a cross in the living room and a wedding photo in the bedroom.  Baby steps, people.
-Saturday will be full of birthday parties!  Which I love.
-We are less than two weeks away from vacation.  Which means I have less than two weeks to find a cute one-piece swimsuit.
-I'd really like to see World War Z this weekend.
-I may or may not have won a custom blog design in a giveaway and I may or may not have a new awesome design here in the next couple of weeks.
-This week majorly sucked but Lauren reminded me that better things are comingIn case you haven't figured it out yet, we spend a lot of time in each others company.
It begs the question...who would YOU like to punch in the face??
I hope everyone has a FANTASTIC weekend!

Ten on Tuesday - Guest Hosted by Yours Truly!

1. I'm really excited to be hosting Ten on Tuesday for Linny today!  My first time hosting.  Kind of a big deal for me.

2. My exact reaction to certain facebook posts:

3. Three months until SOA!  Woohoo!  Bring on the bikers!

4. Well played.

5. Chris and I were at the register at a local gas station and the girl behind the counter asks Chris "is this the girl with the cakesters?".
Nay. She was the girl with the cakesters...

6. This had me ROLLING.
7. On a whim I'm rereading the Twilight saga again.  Don't judge me.
Ok, judge me.  I can feel you doing it from here.

8. When they called Miss Connecticut's name and NOT Miss Alabama's at the Miss USA Pageant Sunday Night:

 9. I got my partner for Lin's Beat the Heat swap and I love her already!  She's going to be a fun one to shop for.

10. I could really use some prayers.  Specifically for guidance on some big decisions I'm having to make.  I'm between a rock and a hard place.

I hope everyone joins in this week!

A Princess and a Duchess

Hello!  I hope everyone had a good weekend and loved on their daddies!
[#MissALwasROBBED.  All I'm going to say about that.]

My favorite story in the news this past week was definitely my favorite girl [and imaginary bff] the Duchess of Cambridge christening the cruise ship the Royal Princess.

Her royal perfection wore a (get this) dalmation print coat and black pumps. No circulation-cutting-ankle-fat-spilling-out-sandals for this girl. Looking at you, Kim Kardashian. Mazel Tov on your little bundle of joy, by the way. I'm sure that child won't be screwed up at all.

The christening took place in Southampton, the same place the Titanic began her maiden voyage, and oddly enough in the same spot Princess Diana christened the very first Royal Princess in 1984.

Everytime I see her being all royal and junk it makes me wonder...why was I not born a princess?  I'd be a good princess.  I would be kind to my subjects.  Le sigh...

I'm linking up with Autumn from The Unreal Life for a one time only (really funny in my opinion) link up.  While you're there, read some of this girl's posts.  Good stuff.  Got blogger "problems"?  Throw a hashtag on those bad boys and link up with Autumn.
This should be interesting...
-I forgot to take pictures of my ingredients for dinner...before I cooked them. #bloggerproblemz

-I can't figure out how to center my nav bar. #bloggerproblemz
computer frustration gif

-I don't own a tri-pod and my husband sucks at taking pictures. #bloggerproblemz

-I seriously screw something up everytime I try new HTML. #bloggerproblemz

-I don't have an Iphone so by default I don't have instagram. #bloggerproblemz

Happy Friday!

A Pink and Gold Affair - Mom's Birthday Party!

It gives me so much joy knowing Kaylen and I put together our first ever party for Mom. We knew her 50th was coming up and wanted to make a big deal out of it. Where Dad is kind of "nah, I don't want any attention", Mom is "OH EM GEE PARTY!".  Not really but she does like a good party!

We started planning all of two months.  Dad just said "whatever" and unleashed us.  We got together a guest list, picked out a perfect invitation and got to work.  We did everything ourselves.  We got the venue, invitations, food, decor, everything.

Around the time we were shopping at Sam's Club for the best prices for fruit, Kaylen and I just looked at each other wide-eyed and said "I think we've bit off more than we can chew".

Oh ye of little faith!

The morning of, the sainted Lauren was in my little kitchen at 9 o'clock helping me make chicken salad sandwiches and cut up watermelons and pineapples.  God love her.  She even helped set up the banquet room and refill food as needed.  That's a FRIEND!

If I do say so, I think it went great for our first time!  And Mom had no idea it was coming.  The look on her face when she walked in the room was absolutely priceless.  I hated not being able to talk about it here!  And I'm shocked we were able to keep it a secret for so long.

With great pride I present to you..
