Ten on Tuesday - But Not Really

 photo Ten-on-Tuesday_zpse31d51a9.png

one.  My dears, this is going to be a very short Ten on Tuesday.  Like, one thing instead of ten short.  As I write this on Monday night I'm at Mom and Dad's and we've been glued to James Spann while we wait out a tornado outbreak.  All day long I've felt like I've been fighting barely contained panic.  I cannot STAND this.  It looks like Mississippi got hit pretty hard and this is the same storm system.  I sat here and tried to get ten things together and I just can't.  Total one track mind right now.  I'm just guessing but I don't think I'll be getting much sleep tonight and I KNOW I won't be able to put anything together in the morning.  Aaaand there's the tornado sirens.
This girl is about to grab the cats and hunker down.

I'm going to post the linkup so yall feel FREE to link up your Ten on Tuesday.

The Easiest Decision

I am the most indecisive person in the world. (Seriously, read my little About Me just to the left there. See?) Every decision I make is a long thought out process with all pros and cons weighed because I’m terrified of making the wrong choice.

It took me about 15 minutes in Shi to choose between plain white classic Keds and white eyelet Keds. The classic ones are just that: classic for a reason. They’ll go with anything and they’re no frills. Just a good shoe to throw on when you don’t know what else to wear. Then there’s the trendy eyelet pair. Super cute and like the classic ones would go with just about everything. As pretty as they are, they’re probably harder to clean if they get dirty with that material. I would HATE if these sparkly white shoes got something on them that I couldn’t get out. Maybe the classic ones are the way to go. It seems like they would transition from warm weather to cold weather better. But the other pair would look adorable with shorts this summer. Then again the eyelet pair is five bucks more so there’s that to consider. What if I get home, try them on with an outfit and hate them? I’d feel bad if they sit in the closet and never see the light of day because they rub my feet raw.

You get the idea. This is why my house has very little on the walls.
Don’t even ask about ordering off the menu at a new restaurant.

But still at fourteen I knew without a shadow of a doubt that I wanted to marry Chris, and seven years ago today I did just that.  He was the easiest decision I ever made.

PS. I bought the eyelet pair.

Letters To Me

 photo letterstomeedit_zps3bfe23f9.jpg

Long friggin’ time no see.
-Letters to Me

Dear Alyssa,
I think we make a good match! We’re going to look super cute this summer at the pool. But can I make a request? Would you be a lamb and get a new beach towel? It’s time to retire the Disney princess towel you’ve had since you were 16 and go with something a little more….stylish. Cinderella would be cramping my style. Much appreciated!
-Your New Swim Suit

I have to say I’m hurt. I’ve been missing you since you broke your addiction. One, sometimes two little cups of coffee a day is just not enough. I thought our bond was stronger than that. Come back to me.

If you don’t clean me out soon I might reach maximum capacity and spontaneously EXPLODE while you’re driving. You have at least one item from all major holidays in the past 5 months in here. A Christmas gift that never made it to it’s intended, a desk decoration from Valentine’s Day and….Easter eggs. Not to mention no less than FOUR jackets in the passenger seat. Who needs four jackets?? Get it together and take me through the wash while you’re at it. Make this little cherry bomb sparkle again.
-Rosie (Your Much Neglected Car)

My Dearest Alyssa,
We'll be able to spend some quality time together in the morning.  Looking forward to it.  Have a great day!
Your Bed

Have an awesome weekend.

Ten on Tuesday - Easter, New Addiction, and BaneCat

Hello, all! If you've never linked up for Ten on Tuesday here's how it works: Blog ten things that are on your mind (serious or silly) and link them back up here. That easy. Happy Tuesday!

Ten on Tuesday, link up, random link up

one. I hope everyone had an awesome Easter! Here is our obligatory Easter picture:
Easter, spring, couple
Follow me on Instagram

two. Chris and I finally watched the last episode of Rescue Me over the weekend and we were needing a new show to get hooked on. Preferably one that's been out for a while so we can binge watch. We found what we were looking for in Orange is the New Black. I was skeptical at first but after three episodes we are most definitely HOOKED.

three. Guess what neon white little idiot decided to go out in a tank top with only SPF 15 Saturday and now has radioactive shoulders and a nice tan line across her back where she carried her cross-body bag. This girl.

four. This is probably not far from how they actually think:
cat mocking human, funny cat

five. Yesterday at work at one point everything went down for a good ten minutes. The office phones, internet, even the cells. My first thought was...terrorists. Is that bad?

six. As much as I like AJ McCarron I'm really hoping he doesn't do this whole reality TV wedding thing to Katherine Webb, but that's the rumor.  TV weddings NEVER end well.  Ask Nick and Jessica.  They're the ones that started it.

seven. If we have a little Cooper this is exactly how he'll get dressed in the morning:
stylish little boy, boy style, cool

eight. I'm convinced some people just have to have something to complain about. They HAVE to point out when everyone is doing something popular on social media and they also HAVE to point out that they are NOT doing it.

nine. I have beach fever.  I'm not even a huge fan of the beach but I just want to go to Gulf Shores, wear my new swimsuit, and eat seafood.

ten. Have you seen BaneCat?  You probably should.  You're welcome:
My question is...how in the hades did he get that cat to wear that mask?!

Ten on Tuesday - A Thank You, A Guilty Dog, and a Viral Husband

Ten on Tuesday, link up, random

one. Got to be honest. I was feeling pretty unsure of myself when I hit the publish button on yesterday's post. Thank you thank thank you to all the ladies who left me kind words.

two. This weekend was such a good one! Shopping with K, a sweet friend's beautiful butterfly themed wedding and church and running around with K and Mom Sunday. At Kaylen's request we visited Steel City Pops after lunch. I had never been. K got Vanilla Cream and I got pomegranate.
mother daughter, sister, sunday afternoon
three. Chris and I FINALLY watched The Great Gatsby all the way through. Clearly I remember NOTHING from reading the book in high school because it came as a shock to me when he died in the end. And Chris is now determined to bring back the expression "old sport".

four. I've got a major case of spring fever. I just want to be outside wearing sandals and sunglasses all. the. time.

five. Today is not only the dreaded tax day, it also marks 102 years since the Titanic sank. I realize this is only a big deal to nerds like me...

six. It's a dead giveaway:
guilty dog, sex scandal, politicians

seven. Speaking of spring fever I got a new swim suit over the weekend. Kaylen took me to this magical place called Everything But Water. It's the bees knees and has SO many options. After trying on about ten different styles I finally decided on one.

eight. After our two go over the rainbow bridge we will only have hairless cats because the amount of time it takes to sweep and vacuum the fur out of this house is silly.

nine. After going to Wrestlemania in New Orleans LAST weekend, Chris went to Raw in Birmingham last night.  He got a few seconds of air time but didn't quite go viral in the wrestling world like him and his buddies did a few months ago:
You'll know when you see it. He's far right black shirt. I'm so proud.

ten. Hahaha!

Why We Don't Have Kids

[For the record, Gus and Dixie do NOT approve this post and were actually highly offended. They suggested I change the title to "Why We Don't Have Human Kids". Obviously I didn't take their advice and they are currently not on speaking terms with me.]

It seems like I get this question at least once a week and if I'm at a social event, several times in an hour. Either from people I've known forever or someone I've just met who finds out Chris and I have been married for (almost) seven years.

"So when are you going to have kids?"
That question NEVER bothers me. It just doesn't, so if you've asked me that before please don't think it bothered because it didn't. My answer is usually "just whenever it happens". It's only when I'm told my "clock is ticking" that I get perturbed.

Then there's the more direct (and somewhat rude) "and WHY don't you have kids yet…?"
That's a longer story.

Robby's Lady Photography, couple, blue eyes
Robby's Lady Photography
We got married when I was 19 and he was 20. Just babies. We went straight from the honeymoon to where he was stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC. The three years we were there, while fun and exciting at times, were a roller coaster. A lot of that roller coaster ride we were broke. Sometimes it was "how are we going to pay the water bill" broke and at points it was "we need to search the couch cushions for change so we can put gas in the car" broke. We were ten hours from both of our families and for the last year of our stay there our tiny apartment was party central.
In short, babies were not on the brain or in the cards. We didn't NEED kids then.

When we left Lejeune AND the Marine Corps and moved home in 2010. It wasn't the easy transition we had planned on. We moved in to my old bedroom at my parent's house and Chris was on the job hunt for months. It was like we were starting our life from scratch and the past five years in the MC had been erased and no longer mattered. Ropes that were already thinning completely snapped and before 2010 ended everything had fallen apart. And when I say everything, I mean everything. Lowest point of my entire life.
Cleary, we didn't NEED kids then.

Mercifully, thankfully things got better. Things got better than they'd ever been before. We were on track again. We bought our house and everything had fallen right into place.
This is where telling the story gets tricky. I never want to go all TMI here. I'll just say sometimes things take longer than you expect them to. I expected we'd already have a little Cooper or Tallulah by now. (Yes, the Tallulah battle still wages on.) Honestly, I always pictured that I'd be pregnant by the time Kaylen graduated…two years ago. But please don't feel sorry for me and don't think I'm a sad bird. I LOVE my life. I LOVE where we're at now. We both want kids but I believe God's timing is perfect. He or she will get here when he or she gets here.
And for right now that's enough.

Ten on Tuesday - Divergent, TSwfit and The Duchess

ten on tuesday, link up, random

one. The hubs and his bromance went to New Orleans this weekend for Wrestlemania. I was SO proud of myself because I slept at the house by myself Friday night. Perhaps because I knew I was sleeping on a 9mm or perhaps because I was so tired I didn't have time to be paranoid before I fell asleep. Whatever works.

two. I finished reading Divergent Saturday morning and went to watch the movie that afternoon with Kaylen and her bestie Allison. I LOVED it. It's so cool to see a story you've only imagined in your head come to life with characters you can put a face to. It's also cool when one of those faces is so good looking it should be illegal.
Theo James, Four, Tobias Eaton

three. I don't know what's gotten into me lately but I've just really felt like shopping.  Maybe it's spring fever.  But anywho I scored and found a pair of cute combat style boots for....$14.99.  Forever21 of course.  First day it's not raining I'm breaking those bad boys in.

four. Did anyone see my homegirl, TSwift at the ACM Awards?  I've said it before but I'll say it again.  Girl should be a model.  A job where she doesn't have to open her mouth.

five. This weekend, while awesome, was the most unproductive weekend ever.  Not one dish or piece of laundry was washed.  And I'm cool with that.

six. Hahaha.
cat hair extensions

seven. It rained SO much Sunday night that I had to take a detour to work yesterday because of flooding.  FLOODING!  That never happens here.

eight. Did you see my actual homegirl, Kate on the royal tour of Australia and New Zealand?  I'll take that coat in a size six, thanks.  And prince George is so handsome!  Looks just like Will.
duchess kate, kate middleton, new zealand trip

nine. This seems to be happening more and more to me....
stop talking, awkward moment

ten. 266 until Disney.  That's a total copout because I don't have ten things!  Bad Alyssa.

Anyway, here are some links from Webland to get the new week started off:

Dear PMS

PMS, mood swings, ecard
Dear PMS,

Screw you and the hormonal horse you rode in on.

Instead of making me a blubbering, pathetic mess why can’t you make me, oh I don’t know, pleasant?? I’m not even asking for you to make me ridiculously happy or perpetually cheerful. Just for the love, stop making me cry for no freaking reason. And no, the “Most Memorable Year of Your Life” episode of Dancing with the Stars is not a good enough reason. A bad hair day is not a good enough reason. Jigsaw World malfunctioning is not a good enough reason.
And if you could stop making me want to murder every person that has the audacity to walk into whatever room I’m currently in that would be nice too. Seriously, the mood swings? Not amused.

You and I used to be on good terms with each other. I feel like we had an understanding. That probably went out the window around the same time I yelled at Chris for breathing too loud.

Please for the sake of myself, my husband and my cats, release your death grip and return me to my normal, happy state of mind.
Just get it together.  I'd appreciate it.

Ten on Tuesday - TWD, Oreo Pudding Pie, and The Weepies

 photo Ten-on-Tuesday_zpse31d51a9.png

One. WALKING DEAD FINALE SPOILERS HERE!! Holy crap. Went straight for the jugular! Literally! People on facebook seemed a little put off by that. Really? That’s where you draw the line? A woman dies in childbirth and is then eaten by zombies, an old man gets his head chopped off with a samurai sword, a little crazy girl is executed and THIS is just too much? The guy’s son is about to get raped so to save him he rips a murderer’s throat out with his teeth. I’m good with that. To quote Napoleon Dynamite "what the heck would YOU do in a situation like that?!"

Two. I’ve had a serious case of the weepies this past week. The crying didn’t end after the jigsaw world crisis Thursday. I went to my little cousin’s dance competition Saturday and found myself bawling over a bunch of girls I don’t know dancing to a mediocre father/daughter Cinderella song. Kaylen saw tears running down my face and said “what is WRONG with you?!” All I could say was “I don’t know! This isn’t even that great of a song! [sob sob]”. Stupid freaking hormones.
are you crying gif, emma stone

Three. Every case of the weepies needs some chocolate. Soooo I made an Oreo Pudding Pie. An unholy MESS to make but it’s so good it’s bad.

Four. We finally watched The Wolf of Wall Street this weekend. Boobs EVERYWHERE. Other than that it made me mad all over again that my Leo didn’t win the Oscar.

Five. Hahaha. Ours are never QUITE this bad:
cat family picture, mad cat

Six. Birmingham has gone 169 consecutive days without hitting 80 degrees. For my yankee northern friends, that’s a pretty big deal. That streak ranks in the top 10 longest below 80 streaks ever. Here's praying, crossing our fingers, knocking on wood for a mild spring with NO tornadoes.

Seven. Look at him. Thinking he's human resting that head on MY pillow. You can really tell how, um, fluffy he is here:
not fat just fluffy, gus, cat think it's human

Eight. I got tired of the "what do you want to eat I don't know it doesn't matter to me well it doesn't matter to me either" conversation EVERY Sunday with Mom, Dad and Kaylen so I made a jar with every restaurant in the area and each Sunday we'll pick one and that will be that. This week was Logan's. I'm crossing my fingers for Cheesecake Factory next week. =)

Nine. It kind of miffs me when the kids are laying next to me and they jump up and run to the door when they hear Chris coming home.

Ten. 8 months and 29 days until Disney. That's forever away!!
